Education: B. Sc, M. Sc. and PhD in biochemistry, Vilnius University, Lithuania (1996 - 2007).
Professional Experience: Ph.D. student and research associate, Institute of Biotechnology, Vilnius, Lithuania (2002 - 2008), from 2008 - Postdoctoral fellow, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne, Switzerland.
Research Interests: investigation of basic concepts guiding the generation of new fluorophores, understanding laws which govern fluorophore biocompatibility, the creation of fluorescent probes and tools which target various structures of the cell, diagnostic and therapeutic applications of the fluorescent probes.

Honors and Awards: The best PHD Thesis of the 2007 Award (sponsored by Gebert Ruef Stiftung) in the field of physical, technological and biomedical sciences in Lithuania (2008), nominated for attendance of the 59th Meeting of Nobel Laureates by Lithuanian Academy of Science and sponsored by Henkel AG (2009), the best Poster Awards at the EMBO Conference Series, Centrosomes and Spindle pole bodies, Barcelona, Spain (2011), FEBS long-term fellowship for postdoctoral research at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne, Switzerland (2008 - 2011).
