Institute of Biochemistry, the State Research institute, is a
modern centre for biochemical research and development, focusing on investigation of biochemical and genetic principles of cell
functioning (cell biology, gene engineering, biocatalysis, bioenergetics, theoretical and practical fundamentals of the biosensors
and bioanalytical systems functioning), synthesis of the biological active compounds.
The Institute of Biochemistry operates at the interface between medicine, biology and chemistry to investigate the structure and function
of cells, biomolecules, (bio)materials. Working together with universities, institute provides infrastructure for postgraduate studies leading to Masters and PhD
qualifications. The Institute consists of experienced, qualified and competent scientists and technicians. Many scientists participate in
the international and national
reasearch ans development projects and programmes, collaborate with Lithuanian and foreign research and study centres.
